Getting rid of old clothes can be a tricky thing to do, who knows who will end up taking your clothes and if you dispose off your underwear, you never know where they might end up (read: in the hands of perverts maybe?). Thanks to the launch of the new Berlei Bra Recycle Program, women can now donate their bras which will then be given to the less privileged women in Africa! This program, launched in conjunction with the Breast Cancer Awareness month this month, will also donate AUD$1 to the Breast Cancer Network of Australia (BCNA) for every 10 bras that are recycled.
If you reside in Australia, watch out for recycle bins in Myer and several participating special stores to donate your unwanted bras. Once donated, the bras will be delivered to Africa where they will be sold at a very reasonable price to the local women. I don’t quite understand the idea of making the unfortunate PAY for something people donated, but it is said that this move is to encourage opportunities of employment in the country as well.
