Due to all the recent backlash and heavy criticism, it is reported that Vera Wang has decided to abolish the ‘try-on’ fees at all the label’s international bridal stores.

The customers at the brand’s Shanghai bridal flagship were required to pay 3,000 yuan (RM1496) that includes 90-minute fitting session and afternoon tea with a consultant. The ‘try-on’ fees policy sparked a huge debate on both Chinese Twitter equivalent, Sine Weibo and the international websites. Some defended Vera Wang and stated that a lot of people weren’t serious about buying a wedding dress hence the policy is to make sure they serve the right customers and prevent stolen designs.

The brand made a careful investigation and review of the policies of their international operators and decided to abolish the appointment fees in all of their stores.

“We wish for all Vera Wang customers to enjoy the same standard of excellence worldwide. Treating our customers in a fair and equitable way remains a priority. The store in Shanghai has only been open to private VIP preview appointments. The official opening to the public will take place on April 29,” Vera Wang told WWD.
