Condom Snorting: A Weird and Fatal Internet Trend

There’s a trend among young YouTubers that may just be the unhealthiest and strangest internet fad ever – snorting condoms. Yes, you heard that right. Condoms. Not crushed cane sugar or something made fine, but actual condoms.

The condom-snorting trend officially started with the “Condom Challenge”, a long tradition of challenge videos where young kids dare each other to do something crazy. And what do they get in return? Likes and some popularity over the viral video-sphere. Seriously, there can’t be anything pleasurable or beneficial from snorting a piece of latex up your nose.

How Does It Work?
Snorting condom is not totally rocket science, but you’re supposed to take the condom from your nose, and it’ll just spread in there until it comes out of  the back of your mouth. This also cannot be done with any ordinary condom. Apparently, it’s best to use lubricated condoms because lubrication makes it easier to slide down your nose. Sadly, it leaves a slime trail down the inside of your nose and throat.

But Why?
Condom snorting may have been circulating tremendously all ove rate internet, but the first condom snorting video apparently surfaced on the internet in 2007. It could possibly be due to an extreme level of boredom, or just sheer determination to garner a little popularity. And did it work? Well, you certainly started a trend.

How Did It Become Popular?
A lot of people believe that it was due to YouTube user, “Savannah Strong” a cute little brunette who does strange thing as Taylor Swift’s “22” plays in the background. Yes, it’s pretty mind-blowing, but her condom snorting video pretty much shot the trend to fame. So far, over 279,000 condom snorting videos were found over YouTube, which means a lot of bored kids have given this a try.

Any Dangers to It?
According to The Sun’s Doctor Carol Cooper, condom snorting is “shocking and incredibly stupid”. As the nose is connected to the back of the mouth, it’s also connected to the airways. he says there’s every possibility something you push up your nose will end up in your windpipe, or in your lungs, which is obviously potentially fatal.
Even YouTube has taken a strong stance against condom snorting videos and has even deleted many of them, so you be a little disappointed if you typed out “condom snorting” on your YouTube search tab.

If you really want to see how it goes down, watch the video:
