Lunch Feast at Work
Today’s lunch menu at work was very simple, Aloo Gobi with Sardine Sambal and Chapattis. It was simple, spicy and very filling.
I love cauliflowers and potatoes and Aloo Gobi is a combination of both. What other way to enjoy it if not with Chapatti and spicy Sardine Sambal. Aloo Gobi is fast and easy to make, all you need is right here in this list :
A medium size cauliflower
1 tsp cumin seed
1 tsp aniseed
1 onion (optional if it’s vegetarian no onions are needed)
3 green chillies
1 tablespoon chilly powder (add more if you like spicy)
1 tsp dry mango powder
1 tsp nutmeg powder
1 tsp tumeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp cumin and aniseed powder
2 bay leaves
some salt to taste
Heat oil on low heat and add bay leaves, cumin seeds and aniseed. Watch the seeds crack away and if you choose not to use onions just add green chillies and stir fry for a bit. Put all the powdered ingredients in a bowl, add water and make it into a paste. Add the paste into the pan and stir. Add a salt, I normally add salt before adding the potatoes as I feel potatoes cook a lot faster when salt is added before it.
Add the potatoes and cauliflower, add a little water put on the pan lid and let it simmer. Stir occasionally, and dish out when it’s done
Enjoy your Aloo Gobi with chapattis and some sambal. Yummy!! Aloo Gobi goes well with rice too.
