Describe your personal style: Colourful, funky and comfortable! I’m all for comfort nowadays… and seem to be wearing a lot more shorts because of the insane heat. I have heaps of pieces which have prints or are in colour in my wardrobe, but recently started acquiring more basic white and black things, especially white shirts.

I usually wear clothes which are loose cos i love eating and hate being constricted after a meal. I also wear a lot more outfits that are acceptable for a casual work meeting cos i’m running between events and meetings most of the day.

What do you think about the fashion scene in KL: It’s improved by leaps and bounds from 5 years ago! You see a lot more people being daring and creative with their outfit choices, or at least in the know of trends. There have been more independent boutiques with choices that are pushing people’s style boundaries here which is great, and more fashion creators in accessories as well.

Your favorite place to shop: Besides the easy high street stores I pop into regularly Zara, Topshop, H&M – I also love supporting local talent here. I try to buy from local businesses, especially those who make their own things. I love thirftyfour for bags and Oxoloco for her handmade semi-precious jewelry.

For boutiques, I like SEETHROUGH in Telawi, and Eight at Publika. Aseana is great for special occasions. There are a lot of great choices on online shops too, recently I’ve been getting stuff from Azorias.com and NakedKimchi.com.
But really, I think i have the knack to shop almost anywhere. I’ve sniffed out metal-bib necklaces in Laos, locally-designed silk pants in Chiang Mai, a vintage scarf from Luxor Tavella in New York, or an embellished snake bracelet by the lakes in Myanmar! It’s all about keeping your eyes, and mind, open to new additions to your collection.
