Review: Embrace Your Inner Carnivore With Tony Roma’s Smokin’ New Menu

By all accounts, barbecue grilling is generally defined as slow-cooking meat over an open flame. But after that, what’s on the grill can vary vastly in just a split second. If your smokey taste buds are hankering for some meat, Tony Roma’s latest indulgence is here to satisfy your meaty cravings with Tony Roma’s Is Smokin’!

Available until 28 May 2017, the popular hangout place for ribs, steaks and time-honoured favourites is redefined with a smokey flavour, specially innovated from the grilling method and ingredients used in the food menu as well as beverages.

New on the menu is the Avocado Fries with Cilantro Lime Sauce to add that zest of health into an otherwise decadent meal. Priced at RM14.90, the appetizer comprises delicious fresh avocado wedges fried crispy and served with roasted tomatoes and cilantro lime sauces that act as a palate cleanser before diving into full on smokiness.

The Smokey Beef Ribs & Smokey Chicken Skewer Combo (RM31.90) is a hefty platter of two beef ribs, two skewers of grilled chicken and vegetables basted with a smokey BBQ sauce. Though I’m a fan of Tony Roma’s original sauce, the smokey BBQ flavour dials down the sweetness of the original just a tad, making the flavour perfect for those who prefer a more savoury flavour. The combo is also served with loaded mashed potatoes and a medley of vegetables.

Prefer chicken? Don’t miss the Smokey Chicken Skewers, comprising three skewers of grilled chicken and vegetables basted with Smokey BBQ sauce and served with mushroom rice & vegetable medley at RM31.90.

Moving on to Tony Roma’s signature seafood item, the Lobster, Shrimp Pasta & Hickory Grilled Blue Hake Fish Platter (RM159.90) is a platter comprising of a perfectly cooked fresh lobster, succulent Shrimp Scampi Pasta and grilled Blue Hake fish topped with BBQ butter, served with mushroom rice, french fries and vegetable medley. This platter is perfect for sharing if you’re dining in a group.

Need something to wash down all that food? Tony Roma’s Tropical Sensations’ refreshing mocktails are priced at RM11.55 each and comes in 5 different variations. The Bahama Mama is a blend of refreshing Pina colada mixed with orange and pineapple juice, Pineapple Sunrise – a sweet and sour mix of pineapple and orange juice, and the Tropical Orange Freeze – a mixture of Pina colada mix blend with orange juice.

For a more party feel (and my personal favourite), try the Pina Strawberry Swirl, featuring a creamy Pina colada swirled with strawberries, topped with crushed pineapple! Not a fan of strawberries? The Pina Mango Swirl features the same concoction, substituting strawberries for mangoes and is priced at RM17.91 each. Want the original? The virgin Pina Colada topped with crushed pineapple is priced at RM15.79
