The unnecessary installment looks exactly like what you would imagine a movie on the legend would be like once it got the Lifetime treatment, which is extremely bad since his daughter literally begged the internet for Urban Myths’ episode on MJ to be revoked.
After giving this sort of treatment to Britney Spears, Aaliyah and even the TLC, it looks like the cheesy TV movie factory assumes that its A-OK to crank out a story about The King of Pop’s last days, featuring the last two years of MJ’s life through the eyes of the bodyguards who protected him.
The special installment, Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland, is based on a 2014 book called Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days, written by his bodyguards Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard.
We get a cringe-worthy portrayal of the legend, played by Navi who self-proclaimed himself as The World’s Greatest Micheal Jackson Impersonator, balancing the pop star’s life on the infamous Neverland Ranch as he races from paparazzi and tries to be a good father to his kids.
The trailer also teases the show’s decision to examine the fallout of Michael Jackson’s death, including Dr Conrad Murray being directly implicated in the fatal dose of prescription drugs that was supplied to the late singer.
“There are good people in the world and there are bad people. I’ll always protect you,” he tells the kids, played by Taegen Burns (Paris), Aidan Hanlon Smith (Prince), and Michael Mourra (Blanket) in another segment. We can’t help but wonder how Michael’s family feels about this.
