Fans of The Office, we’ve got some exciting news for you! Your all-time-favourite American sitcom that ended its adventures at the Dunder-Mifflin paper company in 2013 might be getting a revival and while the news remains unofficial, the chances are pretty high.

According to media outlets, The Office’s original distributor cum production company, NBC Entertainment is looking into starting a new instalment for the award-winning American television comedy. The decision was said to be made upon the success of another NBC revival series, Will & Grace that made a comeback after 10 years being off air.

NBC has always been interested of bringing back the international success series, as revealed by the company’s chairman, Bob Greenblatt through a recent interview, “NBC network execs often talk about The Office“.

Adding that the decision lies on the hands of Greg Daniels, the original creator and producer of the U.S. version of The Office, Bob commented in his interview, “If Greg Daniels were interested, NBC would also be interested.”

Based on the 2001 original BBC series of the same name, the U.S. version of The Office was rewritten to cater for the American audience. Following the everyday lives of the officemates in the fictional setting of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s branch in Pennsylvania , the series went on to air for nine seasons and 201 episodes.

While it’s pretty much confirmed that Steve Carell will not be clocking into The Office as Michael Scott once again, we’re still unsure which of the original cast including Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer, Craig Robinson, B.J. Novak and others would be returning.

Remaining as a recurring cast on the show for eight years, the internet takes a wild guess that Mindy Kaling who stars as Kelly Kapoor will definitely be one of the returning actresses as she revealed, “I can’t imagine that I wouldn’t want to help out in some way, or write, and I feel like probably the rest of the cast feels the same.”

Bearing a different opinion, Jenna Fischer commented on why she thinks the series revival would not be possible, “I would do it if there was some circumstance where everybody got back together, and could be brought back together in some amazing way, I would say yes. But I’m not sure it’s realistic.”

Jenna went on to concludet, “It would be hard to manufacture why all the people were back working together. And I’m not sure the show works if we’re all in different locations”. Well, she does make a point, but we still hope that the revival for the series would be confirmed for more misadventures in Dunder-Mifflin.
